Supporting local non-profits: Rape Crisis Center
At Step One Automotive Group, one of the driving principles is “To Leave a Lasting Legacy in the Community”
We participate in multiple events and partnerships throughout the year that impact our communities in real and significant ways.
Due to COVID-19, all events and fundraisers are postponed, but that does not mean we cannot make a difference.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we want to introduce you to Rape Crisis Center’s Executive Director Doris Williams.
The RCC has been operating for more than 45 years, assisting clients through sexual assault and supporting them with resources in the community.
The Mission of the Rape Crisis Center is to provide resources and advocacy to victims of rape and sexual assault, and prevention education to youth and adults.
Founded in 1975, the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire is well established as a comprehensive agency serving Savannah and the surrounding area. Each year, the Rape Crisis Center serves hundreds of victims including adults, child victims, and family members of victims. Our crisis intervention programs include a SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) and SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners), which makes the reporting process much more responsive to the victim. Additionally, more than 10,000 people are reached each year with the various prevention programs for all ages, such as Safe and Unsafe Touches, Bullying Prevention, and Consent. The RCC is here for survivors at all stages of recovery with confidential services. The decision whether to report the assault is always up to the survivor. Volunteers for the crisis line, hospital advocacy or general support are always welcome! Visit rccsav.org for more detailed information
During these challenging times, please remember all the amazing organizations and non-profits that are serving our local community.
We step together.
